    Research Method for Social Science

Objective: Society itself is a dynamic system. Several components are there. Human resource is the chief sustaining part. But research on the human component only keeping aside other organic and inorganic aids leads results that are valid for a very temporary period. One must take the environment into account for any social development project. Environment on the other hand involves both physical (like lithosphere, atmosphere etc) and the social aspects (like socio-economic and cultural habits etc).
Research projects can be undertaken at micro or macro level. It is preferable to start with micro one and with selective motto. The findings at the micro level of study may then be extended to the macro system keeping the motto intact but with open outlook to have any unique findings so that secondary projects can be undertaken.

Introduction: A research worker must fix up his apparent target to start with. The project must reflect the importance in relation to dynamic social developments befitting the need of the time. Topic of research should be aimed at the collection of existing data along with analysis complemented with the suggestions for remedial measures/course of action to be taken by the appropriate authority. The findings/suggestions should help the future planners of the area/country for the betterment of the existing conditions in the society in that respect. Tokenism should be avoided. Suggestions should obviously keep pace for further research on the same topic from a different angle and evolve idea for new subjects of research.
Many theoretical models have been followed by the social scientists. Attempts would be taken for help from any or some of the models wherever suitable.
Keeping all these in mind a researcher after selecting his/her topic should collect data on the previous analogous works, study of theoretical models if there be any and pinpoint his/her area of work. A researcher in this rapidly changing social environment (e., g., rapid urbanization repression on women. increase in the sect ratio male/female etc). All these can be cited through an instance as guide for a researcher as demo.

    Description:
1.Collection of data with questionnaire or by any other method and views from earlier works on similar topic.
    2. Analogy and explanation of findings. May or may not be with graphical representations.
    3. Superiority of the mode of study with reasons.

    Conclusion:
Summarisation of the Findings and the opinions gathered. Critical analysis and suggestions. etc etc,

  • heater

    tankless water heater

A Tankless water heater offers a homeowner many advantages over a conventional water heater. They are energy efficient, have a constant supply of hot water and also enjoy substantial space savings.

The tankless water heater offers builders several advantages also. You are able to up sell to a more expensive appliance, space savings and also selling of an energy-efficient appliance. Today they are installed in most zero energy homes. Also today, most custom homes are being built with a whirlpool system, high output showers, showers or tubs in other rooms, large capacity washers and dishwashers. All of these put a huge strain on a conventional water heater. Then there is a recovery period when even the biggest units run out of hot water.

A tankless water heater is fairly simple concept. Instead of a constant draw on resources to heat, maintain and reheat water in a large tank. The tankless water heaters will flash-heat the water as it is needed by running thru a heat exchange. When hot water is needed sensors will signal the burners to light and then heat the water. When the hot water is no longer needed the whole system just shuts down and there is no pilot light. This and the fact that there is no recovery period you can save 40 to 60 percent on your utilities bill.
A tankless water heater system is also compact and can be mounted to either a exterior or interior wall to save floor space. Because they are combustion sealed they can also be installed in the closet.

Tankless water heaters in the past few years have had a 20 to 30 percent sales increase per year. But they still only account for about 2 percent of the overall residential water heater market.

Part of this is the fact the some builders are jumping in the tankless water heater parade but yet others are holding back taking a more cautious approach. Also part of the increase is due to the customer’s are more knowledgeable and aware of the tankless water heater advantages.

While there are several good advantages to the tankless water heater, there are some drawbacks also.

The flow rate or capacity that a tankless water heater can supply is dependant on the heating element. The bigger the heating element is. The larger the capacity or flow rate will be. It is also affected by the difference between the water temperature and the temperature it needs to be heated. This is also known as rise.

If a tankless water heater needs to heat water from extremely hot, such as the case in the colder regions. It will have a lower flow rate. A standard shower temperature is 105 degrees. If the water needs to be heated from 65 degrees (which is common) to 105 it will do so much more efficient and with a greater flow then heating the water from 35 to 105 degrees.

The biggest hurdle to clear with a tankless water heater is the initial cost. This cost is 2 to 3 times higher than a conventional system. A couple long term factors need to be investigated. First the energy savings, many states now offer energy rebates which can also reduce the over all price. You also need to look at life expectancy and repairs. A conventional systems are not designed to be repaired they are designed to be replaced. A tankless water heater normally has a 10 year guarantee on the heat exchange unit and 3-5 on the other parts. They are constructed to be repaired if needed. Also the lifetime of the tankless water heater can be up to 20 years with most manufacturers stating 12-15.

A tankless water heater very well may be one of the best cost savers you can put into your new home.

  • Evolution

    Evolution
Much has been said and written about the work of Charles Darwin, much of it sadly based on misunderstanding of the scientific theory he expounded. The truth is that what Darwin spelled out in his ‘Origin of Species’ has stood the test of time and really is our best explanation of the development of life on earth. The description of evolution stands as one of the truly great advances in human understanding, and stands alongside Einstein’s relativity and the works of the quantum physicists for its resilience and relevance.
Nothing in Darwin’s work is a comment on human society, or the relative worth of individuals in that society. The work describes the life and survival of species, and does not ascribe merit or blame for that life or to the survival or extinction of any species.
The process of evolution is simple, elegant and compelling. Every living species, including our own, strives to meet two basic demands of life. These are the seeking of nourishment, and the reproduction of itself. As the one thinking species, we live far more complex lives than simply that of pursuing a meal and a mate. It is surely true however that without these two things our finest achievements would be no more than monuments to our passing.
The margins for survival or extinction are quite small. We live in a dynamic and changing environment, with varying pressures constantly at hand. Where these pressures are incremental or rhythmic in form, a species has its best chance of survival. For example, the constant background rhythms of the tides and the seasons form selection pressures that are rarely catastrophic, but none the less influential. A winter that is a little colder will not destroy a complete species, but will allow the survival of those members that, perhaps by chance, cope best with the colder season. This process will then have nudged the species in the direction of favoring the cold survival trait. Future generations tend to inherit this trait, since the survivors will breed next summer, those that did not survive will never breed again.
Played out over hundreds of millions of years, life adjusts, copes and explores the possibilities. No species is perfect, but survival alone is itself a triumph. Life on Earth is a breath taking panoply of diversity, complexity, magnificent beauty and sometimes absurdity, where every niche has been explored and occupied.
In the last paragraph of ‘Origin of Species’ Darwin wrote ‘There is a grandeur in this view of life’. We are part of that grandeur, and should feel as one with all life on Earth.

    Diamond Cost

    How Diamond Cost is Determined

If you are in the market to purchase a diamond, you’ll be learning all about the 4 C’s of diamonds; cut, color, clarity and carat. But in the mind of the average buyer, there is a fifth “c” that just may be the most important of all them: the diamond cost.

The actual price of a diamond is determined by a grading system that takes into account the cut of the diamond, the color, the clarity and the number of carats. There is a non profit organization called the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) that has devised the official grading system of diamonds, and because of that system, a diamond that is of more carats may cost less than a smaller diamond if the larger diamond has inferior cut, clarity or color ratings. Cost is also determined by the retailer.

    Buying Diamonds Online

The internet provides a wealth of information on diamonds, educating buyers on the value of diamonds based on size, shape and clarity- and luckily, diamond cost is regulated by industry guidelines. This means you can shop for your diamond gem stones online with as much confidence as you would shopping for jewelry at your local retailer, especially if you take the time to become knowledgeable about diamond cost before beginning your search for the perfect stone.

    Guide to Diamond Cost

Every jeweler sets their own prices on their gem stones, rings, necklaces and other items. When dealing with diamond cost, it also depends on the shape of the diamond. A ”round brilliant” shape will tend to cost more than an ”emerald” shape even when they are the same quality and the same size.

If you have a minimal budget, such as $500 or less, you can expect to find a diamond with a carat weight between .15 and .25, set in a 10-14k gold. If you’re in the market for a diamond cost of $500 to $750, you can expect to be able to purchase one between .20 and .37 carats. If you are looking for a 1 carat diamond, you should expect your diamond cost to range between $2000 and $3500.

Get the Most Diamond for Your Money

When you are researching diamond cost, there are many more factors to consider than just the size of the diamond. Remember that the shape (cut) of the diamond will greatly effect the diamond cost, as well as the clarity of the diamond. You can get multiple, smaller diamonds for less cost than you can a single, larger diamond due to the rarity of mining a larger sized diamond. Sometimes a diamond will be beautiful to the naked eye, and have a reasonable diamond cost- but it may have a lower rating for quality or tone given by the GIA. When you are shopping for your diamond, you’ll need to decide what is more important to you; the diamond cost, the size of the diamond, the quality (the rating as given by the GIA), or how it looks when it’s worn!

ࡱ> +-*7 bjbjUU ””7|7| l ^^^^^^$ d| @qbd0Mesothelioma symptoms The term Mesothelioma in medical terms is defined as form of cancer that proliferates at a very fast rate after it has been diagnosed, which affects the mesothelial cells in the body. After detailed study of this disease by several scientists all over the world, it has been concluded that in most of the cases the reason is the direct contact with loose asbestos particles. This disease is generally known to be derived from an abnormality that arises from inhaling the loose asbestos particles suspended in the air for a very long time. The chances of the patients, diagnosed of mesothelioma, have very bleak chances of survival which is not more than one or two years and if it has been detected long back and rigorous medication has been started on the patient then the patient is likely to live for about five years. There are three types of mesothelioma but the symptoms of the diseases depend on their kinds. The symptoms vary from one-another but the general symptoms that are found in patients suffering from different types of mesothelioma are weight loss, chest pain, loss of appetite, short breath , plain cough and cough with blood. Diagnosing mesothelioma in its initial stages is not possible because symptoms surface very late and that, these symptoms are no special signs indicating the particular disease but are common for other diseases too. Generally the symptoms of mesothelioma resemble to that to any other normal lung diseases. Most of the symptoms arise in the lungs, where the mesothelial cells covering the lungs and the cavity between them are affected due to prolonged inhalation of asbestos fibers. Consulting with the physician is very necessary from time to time and necessary test must be conducted to detect the disease. The main symptom of mesothelioma is a constant pain in the chest which is followed by short breaths and difficult breathing because of accumulation of fluid in the chest, which makes breathing all the more difficult. Some of the other symptoms of the disease include abnormalities in the lungs, which can be diagnosed under proper supervision of the doctor with a chest CT-scan. Basically, the disease of mesothelioma advances in four stages. In the first stage, begins the formation of the tumor in the area of lining of the lung and doesnt exceed from one side of the lung. And then in the second stage the tumor extends to other organs in the chest cavity, such as heart. Then in the third stage its extents to the other abdominal organs affecting all the other organs too. Finally in the fourth and the last stage the tumor extends to all parts of the body and affects all the parts adversely. These are some of the symptoms of the disease of mesothelioma, by which the disease can be tracked in the initial stages of its occurrence.

    Treated Diamonds

    Why Treated Diamonds Exist

For centuries, people have always tried to improve objects that are a result of nature. We’ve cross bred plants and even animals to produce new species, and we prune and shape trees and bushes to make them more pleasing to the eye or to create fancy borders around our yards and in front of our homes. When it comes to diamonds, many become treated diamonds by the jeweler, in order to improve their appearance.

Treated diamonds can have improved clarity, improved color and even be completely coated to improve it’s overall appearance. On the positive side, treated diamonds can help people with limited budgets have the ability to purchase a gorgeous looking diamond.

    Clarity Improved Diamonds

In order to improve the clarity of diamonds, sometimes tiny cracks in the diamond are filled with molten glass. This can cause the diamond to move up a grade in the GIA grading system, and it does not affect the overall weight of the diamond. The process was invented by Israeli diamond cutter, Zvi Yehuda in 1982. Since this invention, some companies have begun a new process that fills the cracks with bromine instead of the molten glass, however, bromine will sometimes discolor the diamond under certain lighting conditions. It’s always best to ask what method the diamond has been treated with when considering treated diamonds, so that you are not surprised when you view the diamond in light outside the jeweler’s.

    Colored Diamonds

There are a few different types of color treated diamonds. Colored diamonds are actually painted in order to take away a yellowish tinge, and make the diamonds appear more white and transparent. Some are colored darker, in order to permanently alter a diamond to a different color by using electron bombardment. Others become treated diamonds by way of laser drills. In the 1970’s people began using lasers to drill miniscule holes into the diamonds to reach dark colored spots. Once they reach the dark colored areas within the diamonds, they are able to bleach them with acid so that they are not as noticeable. Sometimes they finish the laser treated diamonds by then filling the tiny holes with molten glass.

    Coated Diamonds

Coated treated diamonds are much like a colored diamond, except for the entire diamond gets a coating of a substance that is designed to make the diamond appear brighter and more translucent to the naked eye. In fact, the coating is so good on most treated diamonds that it can go undetected unless an experienced gemologist studies the diamond for it’s value.

Treated diamonds are often very beautiful, and can be more affordable than diamonds that are not treated. If you decide to purchase a treated diamond, just be sure you inform the jeweler when you bring your diamond in for cleaning, as they may need to use different chemicals to clean it and maintain it’s treatment.

Advantages of Offering a Dental Benefits Plan to Employees
    (Part 1 of 3)

A Dental insurance or dental benefit plan is viewed upon as a much sought after employee benefit. So financially it makes sense to have a dental benefit plan in place to recruit and retain employees. Moreover, dental health is a very important part of overall employee health and man days lost due to dental problems or dental discomfort of an employee equates to financial loss for the employer.

Unlike most medical conditions, dental maladies and treatments are low risk, predictable and low cost. These factors contribute to offering dental insurance to employees a good option financially. Dental diseases are preventable by maintenance and often involve only maintenance costs like x-rays and examinations. Treatment is rendered cheap due to diagnosis in early stages of the disease. Keeping these financial factors in mind, dental insurance options can also be self funded. History does not show any extremes in costs or utilization of this form of employee benefit.

Selecting the right Dental Insurance Plan

Selecting the right dental plan involves a lot of factors which have to be considered with due care.

Dental insurance plans are basically agreements between the employer and the insurance company. Most plans offered by dental insurance companies allow for part reimbursement of dental treatment expenses. Many plans also discourage certain kind of treatments or allow access to certain of dentists. To consider these points one has to go through the plan very carefully with a toothcomb. For example choosing a dentist is not same as choosing a dentist from the list, or if the plan does not cover one kind of treatment, it is wrong to infer that your regular dentist is incompetent.

Many plans do not cover pre existing conditions. Some may not cover implants and so on. Due to these preconditions, the final treatment may be paid for in part only or in insurance parlance you might be reimbursed for LEAT (Lease Expensive Alternative Treatment). Dental insurance plans vary in fixing the UCR (usual, customary, and reasonable) in a certain geographical area. UCR may vary from plan to plan and company to company despite operating in the same area. Therefore fixation of this UCR level would define the liability of the patient. In some plans the patient may have to pay more and in some he may have to pay less depends upon the plan the employer has offered. ..(Go To Part 2)

Advantages of Offering a Dental Benefits Plan to Employees
    (Part 2 of 3)

Important factors while finalizing on a Dental Insurance Plan

An employee has to ask himself the following before he finalizes on a plan:

Would the employees like to retain the freedom of choosing their own dentists?
Will the mode of treatment be determined by the patient and the dentist?
What type of routine and preventive dental care is covered? Does the plan cover braces, oral surgery, crowns and bridges, root canals and treatment of periodontal diseases?
Will the plan cover all diagnostic, preventive and emergency services? Including preventive services viz. sealants & fluoride treatments, which might result in financial savings to the patient in future? Does it provide for full-mouth x-rays?
What forms of major dental care is covered? Does the plan cover implants, dentures, or treatment for temporomandibular disorders?
Does the plan allow for specialist referrals? If so, has the dentist be limited to the list of specialists to choose form?
Does the plan provide for emergencies? What are the provisions made for emergency care when the patient is on tour?
What percentage of monthly premiums goes into actual care and not to administration?

Dental Insurance benefit coverage should be taken into consideration but should not be the deciding factor in choosing the treatment.

    Dental Insurance Plan Models

There are numerous dental plans available. Basically they are of two kinds:
    Managed care and Fee-for-service.

Managed care dental plans are restricted forms of dental insurance which aim at reducing costs and payouts. They tend to restrict the coverage by limiting the access to care by restrictions (by predefining dentist, specialist, hospital or treatments in form of lists) and restricting level, type and frequency of treatment (usually in form of clauses in the coverage policy).

Fee-for-service dental plans have a freedom of choice options where one can choose their own dentist and the fee is paid as fixed by the dentist. ..(Go To Part 3)
Advantages of Offering a Dental Benefits Plan to Employees
    (Part 2 of 3)

    Kinds of Dental Insurance Plans

    Managed Care Dental Plans

Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans are plans in which the patient has to select a dentist from a list provided to him. These dentists have agreed to discount their fee by contract with the insurance company. Some PPO plans also allow patients treated by dentists outside their list, where the patient is penalized by excess co-payments and higher deductibles. PPOs are normally less expensive than indemnity plans in their class.

Keep the following in mind while reviewing a PPO Dental Insurance Plan.

What is the percentage of the premium used for administration?
Will the discount influence patients to change their regular dentist? Will the amount of the discount the dentist ahs to offer affect the number of treatment options for the patient?
What is the liability of the employer in the event of the plan influencing dentist selection or treatment?
What are the criteria of selection of dentists for the plan? Does it have adequate number of dentists under contract? What is the geographic distribution of dentists? Does the PPO dental insurance plan provide for specialist referrals? If so, are the dentists limited to a specialist on the list only?
How does the plan provide for emergency treatment? If so then how does the plan provide for emergencies outside the geographical area?

Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) or Capitation plans are designed in such a way that the patient does not have any financial payout when he goes for treatment. These plans pay the dentists on their list a fixed amount of money monthly per enrolled family or individual, regardless of visits. In return, the dentists provides specific types of treatment to the patients who visit him at no charge, any other types of treatments require co-payment. This way, the DHMO is rewarding dentists to keep patients in good health, thereby keeping the costs low. This kind of plan is one of the least expensive.

Factors to consider while reviewing a DHMO plan.

    Fee-for-Service Dental Plans

Direct Reimbursement (DR) plan is a self-funded dental insurance benefit plan which reimburses patients on actual spent on dental care. It is not based on the type of treatment received. The patient has complete freedom in choosing the dentist. The employers are liable to pay a percentage of actual treatment cost, but they do not have to pay monthly premiums for employees who do not need the benefit. Moreover the employer is free of any responsibility to take decisions on mode of treatment due to previous plan selection or sponsorships. Direct Reimbursement Dental Insurance Plan is American Dental Associations preferred method of dental coverage.

    Growing Vegetables
I can hear you thinking that you have no idea about growing vegetables. The truth is that you can easily learn enough to be growing useful crops very quickly, and each session spent in your garden teaches you even more. You will learn much that is unique to your own situation, such as local soil conditions, your particular aspect in relation to the sun, and oddities that relate to your local microclimate. You will learn most of this by getting out and giving it a go.
The taste of home grown vegetables is vastly superior to that of the commercially grown produce. Have you heard people complain that tomatoes no longer have any taste? They will have when you grow your own – you will never taste better. The lack of taste with the commercial crop is not all the fault of the growers, as they are under pressure to produce a crop, of uniform size and colour, to the schedule of the wholesale market, and ultimately the supermarket. You set your own schedule.
The freshness of your own crop is a big plus. Vegetables I have bought from the supermarket, and stored in the refrigerator, have started to become inedible after a few days. I have had home grown produce still fresh in the refrigerator after 2 weeks!
Typically, your home garden will produce a generous yield, and can readily help pay for the cost of growing them. You can effectively end up having free vegetables. Summer, especially, is usually a time of abundance, even glut, as family and friends leave your place with perhaps more produce than they had expected to see. A tip – when giving away fresh produce, try to limit your generosity – it is better to give a small amount to many rather than to give to the few more than they can actually use.
One of the turn-offs to trying something you have not done before is the intimidating flood of information (and misinformation) you will receive.
If you are browsing one of the major bookstores, you may find hundreds of books on the topic – which do you buy? To begin with, look for the simple, basic information. Do not bother with those full of jargon – you will learn the technical terms as you go.
You will hear folklore from the family, such as “Uncle Henry always put … (you name it) … on his … (name it again)”. Folklore is part of our heritage, but there is no guarantee of its usefulness.
You will hear from the office genius, who has done nothing, but still knows all the answers – nod wisely, and then ignore him.
Plants evolved millions of years before humans, and they actually want to grow. It has been said that in many cases plants grow despite what we do to help them. If you provide the basics, and these are reasonable nutrition and regular watering, Mother Nature does the rest – let her work for you.
